Man, June was a heck of a month for games! Considering I don’t buy a ton of new games these days, any month where at least three new titles are must-haves for me is some sort of record. So what are we playing?

For years, gamers have raved about the work M2 has done in bringing arcade games to home consoles with amazing accuracy and a wealth of added options, customizations, and assorted bells and whistles. And now, thanks to this new documentary, we know a little more about who is behind all that meticulous work: A bunch of crazy hardcore game nerds, that’s who. My kinda people! …and if you’re reading this, probably yours too.

True confession: I’ve never played through Super Mario RPG. Shock and horror, I know!

What are we playing? 07.16.17

I’ve played my share of Final Fantasy games — I’ve played through the first, IV, VI, VII, IX, and X (with about six hours put into VIII before I decided my character was a d-bag and I didn’t wanna be him anymore) — but, like most American gamers, I didn’t play II, III, or V.

Since my son bought a Nintendo Switch (yay for having a teenager with a job, I didn’t have to buy it myself!), he’s been lending me his 3DSXL — a unit which I always wanted but never picked up. So I’m catching up on some games I missed out on, and the first one is Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. Released in 2014, it’s not an old game, but it certainly is 100% rooted in the spirit of A Link to the Past, as you are probably well aware.
